There’s been a juicy little rumor posted up at TSN.ca that reports league executives are talking about a second franchise in the Toronto area.
While some are saying expansion is a scenario (even involving Jim Ballsille), most seem to think that a relocation would be the only way another team would share a city with the Leafs.
”I’ve heard bits and pieces of this scenario, although not in that kind of detail,” Calgary Flames co-owner Harley Hotchkiss told The Globe and Mail. ”Our priority is to have the existing franchises solid.”
I personally think another franchise in Toronto would be a great idea. It would help lower some of the astronomical ticket prices the Leafs have and make the game much more accessible to the city. But how well would a new team be received? Are Leafs fans too die hard to share their streets?
